| Biography of Founder |
Mr. Edward Kong founded EK Investment Management Limited ("EKIM") in 1991. He has over 20 years of experience
managing unit trusts and pension funds investing in the Asian Pacific region. His investment repertoire spanned
the management of U.S. ERISA portfolios to retail-orientated unit trusts, from single country specialist funds
to global portfolios, managed out of London and Hong Kong.
With the establishment of EKIM and the launch of EK Global Hedge Fund in 1991, Mr. Kong has since applied many
innovative techniques to the investment process. In 1995, EKIM launched two Hong Kong authorized unit trusts: the EK Asia Fund and the EK Hong Kong & China Fund.
Authorised funds managed by Mr. Kong have, on average, outperformed their respective benchmarks by around 20% (Source: EKIM and Bloomberg, Data compared in US$ term on NAV to NAV basis).
Before forming EKIM in 1991, Mr. Kong was Director and Chief Investment Officer Japan at Morgan Grenfell Investment
Services, London (1989-1990). Prior to his position at Morgan Grenfell, Mr. Kong spent seven years at Schroders, where
he was a Senior International Fund Manager (1982-1989) and a member of the International Investment Policy Committee
at Schroders, London, since 1986. Prior to that, he was a fund manager at GT Management (1980-1982).
Mr. Kong received his BA in Mathematics from the Imperial College of the Universities of London and his MBA from the University of Chicago.
